Welcome

A modern roommate matching platform

RoomSync is passionate about empowering resident choice when it comes to with whom they'll share space. Roommates are more important than ever. The right roommate creates an environment that fosters a happy, successful college experience. With the essential needs of residents always in mind, we never stop innovating and growing as a company and a partner of the student housing industry. It is our goal to provide the best roommate matching experience possible for residents, while simultaneously giving housing teams control over the process.

Our Story

While working at an off-campus housing community in Gainesville, FL almost two decades ago - completing roommate matching, room assignments, and fielding the many concerns that followed - Rob knew there must be a better way.  At the time, Facebook was emerging as a popular platform for making connections, and Rob suspected there was something useful in incorporating this new-fangled thing called social media into the roommate matching process.  Beyond social media, putting the choice into the hands of residents seemed to be the missing key to roommate success and resident satisfaction.

Thus, in 2007 - after looping in co-founders Ariel, Michael, and Alex - a small company, then known adorably as RoomBug, emerged as a solution for roommate matching woes.  Launching first with the University of Florida housing department, the team found their solution was a success and never looked back.

Today, the startup known as RoomBug is now RoomSync, the leading provider of roommate matching software for the student housing industry.  A powerful app loaded with features for residents and community teams alike.

The RoomSync team has also grown.  In 2014, Rob’s former off-campus co-worker, Samantha, joined the team after spending a decade working on-site in student housing.  She was also responsible for completing the roommate matching process at many communities and all too familiar with the struggles of “the old way”.

While the RoomSync app continues to innovate and expand, the team never loses sight of the original mission and their first-hand experience with student housing roommate matching.
