Gainesville, FL - October 8, 2020 - RoomSync, the leading provider of roommate self-selection software for the student housing industry, announced today a partnership with American Campus Communities, Inc (NYSE: ACC), the nation’s largest developer, owner, and manager of high-quality student housing apartment communities; RoomSync will provide roommate self-selection software at more than one hundred of their communities.
RoomSync allows residents to search for potential roommates by lifestyle criteria, academic majors, social media presence, and overall compatibility scores. This specially-designed tool empowers students to choose a roommate whom they feel best fits their lifestyle, rather than relying on the traditional process of manually assigning roommates based on basic questionnaires. Once a resident selects a compatible roommate on the RoomSync app, the property’s leasing office receives a full roommate report, eliminating the paper process entirely.
Earlier this year, American Campus Communities quickly identified significant shifts in resident expectations due to the coronavirus pandemic, including the increased attention towards health and the sharing of space with strangers. RoomSync was deployed this summer to more than one hundred properties to address this increased resident demand for roommate self-selection.
“More residents are wanting control over the roommate selection process to determine who they will live with. While this has been the growing trend for years, the pandemic made this an issue of immediate focus,” says Kimmy Kelley, senior vice president at American Campus Communities.
According to Robert Castellucci, President at RoomSync, the RoomSync app reduces room transfer requests, decreases the severity of roommate conflicts, and increases roommate satisfaction.
“Our partnership with American Campus Communities will enable tens of thousands of students to take control of their personal space. Our cross-platform app helps students feel confident in their living environment, and this empowerment is more valuable than ever before.”
